Mela Africa builds the trusted data and intelligence layer for Africa's farmers. We help banks, insurers, input companies, buyers and development programmes see and serve farmers, so more farmers get loans, insurance and fair markets. We work from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
About the role
You'll shape what Mela knows about farmers and what it means. Your analysis will help banks, insurers and buyers make better decisions about farmers.
What you’ll do
Explore, clean and analyse farm and financial data.
Define the measures that matter to our partners.
Test what truly predicts good outcomes for farmers and partners.
Present findings clearly to partners and the team.
Work closely with our ML engineer and field team.
What you’ll bring
Experience in data science or analytics.
Strong statistics, Python or R, and SQL.
A habit of questioning data before trusting it.
The ability to explain results to non-technical people.
Nice to have
Experience with agriculture, credit or insurance data.
Experience with geospatial or survey data.
